MPA Architects were asked to look at the transformation of the original Royal Stables in St Petersburg into a shopping centre. The existing oval stable building was to be preserved and the central courtyard was to house a new minimalistic steel frame, fully glazed shopping mall.
The building comprises three levels of underground parking, two floors of retail space, on ground and first floor, and offices on the second floor. The roof space provides restaurants and galleries for visitors with views over the city including the adjacent river front and square.
