Over the past ten years MPA Architects have been involved in several project at The Marlands. The first project was the improvement of the entrance from the main pedestrian road and at the same time forming a food court at first floor level. The entrance, originally a street, was internalised using a inflated translucent ETFE cushion roof with a free-floating glazed screen and a canopy supported on a single structural 'Y' column. An escalator was added to provide access to the new food court which is centred around a circular public mall space with various food offers located around it.
